In partnership with Deloitte, we’re proud to share our first-ever national report with actionable insights for policy makers that we’re bringing to legislators starting next week. The Canadian women’s collective voices from coast-to-coast report amplifies the voices of engaged women across Canada. It’s grounded in our latest Leger research and with insights from more than 500 women who participated in workshops at CPW events in Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver earlier this year.
The findings show a growing sense of urgency for energy policies that strengthen prosperity, security, and long-term affordability. Women want major energy projects prioritized to strengthen economic and energy independence. At the same time, they believe it is important to continue to make progress on emissions reduction, but in a global context.
Our audience, who represent 6.7 million or 42 per cent of women in Canada, are clear in their overwhelming support for strengthening energy independence from the U.S. and wanting a national energy corridor fast-tracked.
“Canadian women have a deep sense of pride in our energy and natural resource sector and see a connection between its success and a prosperous future for their families and our country,” says Tracey Bodnarchuk, CPW CEO. “But that future isn’t guaranteed. There is a sense of urgency for Canada to take the right approach developing balanced policy to support growth and expansion of the energy sector with new projects of national significance, including new pipelines.”
We would not have been able to develop this report without the insights of the many engaged women across Canada who have shared their perspectives with us.
“We thank everyone who supports our mission to make women’s voices unignorable and to those who participate and are engaged,” says Tracey. “We are delivering on our promise to ensure what they share is not only heard but considered in the decisions shaping Canada’s economic and energy future”.
