Contract – National Marketing Director
CPW is seeking a National Marketing Director to lead and elevate our marketing, brand, and events platform at a pivotal stage of organizational growth. Working in close partnership with the CEO, VP of External Affairs, CPW contract team and stakeholders, the National Marketing Director will translate organizational priorities into compelling initiatives that drive engagement, deepen relationships, and position CPW as a credible and influential voice in Canada’s energy and business landscape.Â

The role
Strategy and planning
- Plan, enhance, manage, and drive execution of CPW’s overall marketing strategy and national events platform and associated yearly priorities.
Marketing and brand leadership
- Continue to build CPW’s brand positioning and ensure a distinctive, consistent presence in markets across Canada via programs and omni channels.
- Lead the development of integrated national and regional campaigns and events that build awareness and engagement with priority audiences. This includes two national campaigns yearly connected to CPW’s research, national event series workshop outputs, roundtables and government advocacy days efforts.
- Take an omni-channel approach, working in close alignment with CPW contract team members and agency partners who are developing editorial and content, to ensure content is appropriately and consistently deployed across CPW platforms (social media, website, email, presentation deck design, etc.) for maximum impact. Â Â
- Collaboratively integrate marketing into CPW’s research and editorial efforts to optimize reach and results.  Â
- Responsible for the maintenance, development and evolution of CPW’s owned channels, including the website, social media, MailChimp emails and digital channels. Â
- Support campaign efforts directed to stakeholders related to fundraising, reporting of program performance, speaker kits, the impact report, etc.
Events strategy and the national platform
- Lead and execute CPW’s national events portfolio, including executive roundtables, corporate engagements, regional forums, receptions with government leaders, signature events, the national tour (minimum of five markets), partner speaking and tradeshow opportunities.
- Ensure event programming is aligned to CPW business plan priorities and designed to connect with target stakeholders, including engaged women, senior leaders, and policy and decision-makers.
- Oversee sponsorship fulfilment and tracking connected to CPW events and ensure sponsors receive all benefits. Â
Budget ownership and management
- Develop and manage the marketing, events and program budget as applicable to the portfolio. Be responsible for monthly, program and annual forecasting and reconciliations. Process all payment in a timely manner and ensure alignment with CPW finance practices.
- Develop and manage the budgets for large CPW events, including the yearly national tour, working with CPW’s event production agency partners.
- Oversee and coordinate event and marketing delivery with external vendors. Included contract or agreement development and relationship management.
Marketing operations
- Accountable for applying and optimizing the MarTech stack (Salesforce, MailChimp, EventBrite, etc).
- CRM leadership (Salesforce). This includes email marketing, Salesforce database accuracy and integrity.
- Responsible for campaign operations and reporting.
- Develop processes for campaigns, events, and other areas to offer reliability and efficiency.
- Apply governance and process implementation related to data and privacy.
Excellence in execution
- Ensure a consistently high standard across all events and campaigns—spanning experience design, sponsor integration, and stakeholder engagement.
- Drive disciplined planning, project management, and stewardship processes.
- Ensure consistent post-campaign and event evaluation processes are in place, and that the insights inform continuous improvement and progress organizational priorities.Â
Growth, reach and impact
- Oversee social media and digital platforms and campaign performance to expand reach and deepen engagement.
- Leverage insights and performance metrics to refine approach and maximize impact.
- Identify opportunities to scale CPW’s visibility and influence regionally and nationally.
Leadership and team management
- Lead and coordinate the work of the contract Marketing Specialist.
- Manage scopes of work (SOWs), workplans and deliverables for agency partners doing work within the marketing portfolio.
- Establish clear priorities, ensure alignment across initiatives, and drive disciplined execution.
- Contribute to a collaborative, accountable, and results-oriented environment.
- Participate collaboratively and actively in various meetings at CPW and with agencies, board and committees.
- Build and maintain strong external relationships (agency partners, vendors, sponsors and key stakeholders) and enable effective integration across CPW’s events and marketing initiatives.
- Operate with a continuous improvement mindset.
Your expertise
- Senior business leader with proven marketing and events leadership experience in a corporate business-to-business environment.
- Understanding of and exposure to communications, public and government relations and how they intersect with marketing and brand.
- Background knowledge and interest in the Canadian energy sector required.
- Strong writing, planning and organizational skills are essential.
- Understanding and use of MarTech systems and platforms, AI, and their application.
- Experience within a mission-driven public affairs or stakeholder-focused organization is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to lead integrated marketing campaigns and national event portfolios.
- Strong strategic instincts with the ability to translate vision into execution.
- Experience operating in complex stakeholder environments, including with board members, funders, senior leaders and volunteers./li>
- Commercially astute, with experience building and managing budgets, driving performance, and working with external partners./li>
- Comfortable operating within a small team with a high-accountability and entrepreneurial environment./li>
- Interested in public affairs, the news and political cycle, natural resources and the economy as they related to the energy file is a must.
Role details
- Full-time contractor role (~37.5 hours/week)
- Calgary based only, hybrid work model.
- National travel required to support CPW’s event programming and stakeholder engagement.
- Flexibility in hours due to the nature of events.
